Hey all, Mark here.
I’m happy to announce that, after a few months of downtime, we finally have a message board again!
As you may have noticed, this message board is very different from our previous one. The way the whole site works has changed ever since Yahoo sold their web hosting business. In the end, I decided to try installing WordPress and see if I could make that work for a new board system. I might look into using it for the comic/blog posts too, since it allows comments to be posted.
Anyway, please let me know what you think!
Yay, we’re back. This is the first time I’ve been asked “are you a human” and there was a button for no. I was seriously tempted to push no just to be cheeky, but oh well.
Pity we lost the old messages. Let me think, what pans did we have in the fire…
All I can think of are “This comic is pretty good, yeah?” and “Minty Fresh 2.0 when?” ;P
Time stamps seem to be running 7 hours fast.
I tried to reply to my first comment, and it won’t allow it until the comment has been moderated. That might turn out to be problematic given the intermittent nature of everyone’s presence here. You can probably trust us not to use an unrestricted message board to advertise our cults and sell encyclopedias. Probably.
Seems the time stamp is shown in Mark time (EST) instead of your local time. That doesn’t seem wise on WordPress’ part. It means the time stamp is pretty much useless to anyone not in the board’s time zone
Yowza, we’re back in business!
While I appreciate that the message board is back, I must ask a very important question: why was this eye-gouging, brain-hurting, nose-bleeding interface selected? Did the good old phpBB die of old age while I wasn’t looking? I mean, I know it’s easy to just sit back and criticize, but this thing seems to be deliberately designed by WordPress to see how much abuse readers can take before they completely swear off modern technology and go forth to frolic naked around the nearest meadow.
Also: I missed you guys.
Hi Everybody!
I’m going to have to try viewing this on my laptop later. Usually I lurk with my phone, but the format is kindof annoying for that. I’m happy there’s still somewhere for the community to chat though. It seems few people use message boards anymore in favour of scattered social media.
I’ve been wondering if the Dragon Mango community would like a Discord server. The problem is that I only just started using Discord and have no idea how to go about doing that. I would learn if people want it though…
Just wanted to say hi! My original account name is stuck in my usual email account because wordpress never appeared in any of the boxes. Decided to use this email for it instead. Ah well.
