Drgaon Mango Pokemon Teams

Felt bored today, so I decided to make some Dragon Mango themed pokemon teams. Basically, these are just teams I think the Dragon Mango main cast would have, if they were in the pokemon world.
Mango:
First off, I imagine Mango’s team would consist of a Charizard, Sirfetch’d, Hakamo-o, Druddigon, Armarouge, & Simisear. As for why I chose each one, Charizard because its a fire type pokemon that is, morphologically speaking, a dragon (plus I came up with a conceit that the main characters of Dragon Mango should have starter pokemon), Sirfetch’d because its a warrior-ly fighting pokemon that evolves from a joke pokemon which fits Mango’s whole deal of being looked down on by her fellow Dragon Slayers, Hakamo-o because its a fighting dragon type and a mid stage psuedo-legendary which fits with how Mango and company are still learning to be proper warriors, Druddigon because its a dragon type that matches Mango’s armor’s color scheme and is considered kinda mediocre as far as dragons go, Armarouge because its a fire type with a knight motif which fits Mango’s whole Protector of the Princess thing (even if she was horrible at it), and finally Simisear, being a flaming monkey, represents Mango’s human half since humans are primates and her pariah status in Dragon Slayer society what with Simisear being one of the least popular pokemon of all time. I’ll post teams for Bleu, Cherry, Pumpkin, and Candy later. Also, this is kinda inspiring me to make some fanart of the Dragon Mango main trio in uniforms from the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, what with the school in it being called Blueberry Academy and all!

  1. Bleu:
I imagine Bleu’s team would include an Empoleon, Shiny Gardevoir, Alolan Ninetails, Arctibax, Dragonair, and Aurorus. As for the reasons: Empoleon fits the whole starter Mon conceit I came up with along with being based on royalty and an arctic bird fitting Bleu’s noble birth and ice powers, Gardevoir fits because it’s a Pokemon known for its capacity for supportive and offensive moves which fits Bleu’s talents as a red mage and it being shiny fits Bleu’s … well, blue color scheme and being so rare, seems like the sorta thing an aristocrat like Bleu would be able to get her hands on, Alolan Ninetales fits mostly because of Bleu’s ice powers (plus Alolan ninetales is a pokemon known for setting up snow which would greatly benefit Bleu’s other ice types), Arctibax fits the second stage Psuedo conceit and it being the only non legendary dragon ice type makes it perfect for Bleu, Dragonair also fits the second stage dragon pseudo conceit plus Bleu having 2 pseudo legendaries fits with her being aristocratic and thus being able to get her hands on more powerful Pokemon than your average person (also the wings on Dragonair’s head look like the wings on Bleu’s school uniform hat), Aurorus fits mostly because it’s a reptilian looking ice type, with its rarity as a fossil Pokemon also fitting with Bleu’s other rare Pokemon.

  2. Cherry:
I figure Cherry’s team would consist of a torchic, Jirachi, Bagon, Swablu, Abra, and Munchlax. As you can see, with the exception of Jirachi, all of Cherry’s mons are first stage Pokémon, signifying her being a naive and inexperienced kid. As for specifics, Torchic is there because Cherry loves chasing after chickens and because she looks up to Mango and would thus choose the same starter type as her, Jirachi is there because it’s a legendary Pokemon with wish granting abilities much like Cherry’s reality warping powers, Bagon is there because pseudo legendary and because its habit of throwing itself off of cliffs fits with Cherry’s talent for getting into danger, Sawblu is there for dragon type rep along with being a cute dragon type that eventually can gain the fairy typing via mega evolution, Abra is there because it is notorious for teleporting away, much like Cherry, and Munchlax is there to represent Cherry’s monstrous appetite. Suffice it to say, with time, Cherry would be an absolute nightmare to battle!

  3. Pumpkin:
Pumpkin’s team would be a torterra, eevee, aegislash, Tyrantrum, gimmighoul, and Gabite. As for the rationale, torterra because of the starter conceit and because it being ground type makes it fit with Pumpkin being an earth dragon or something similar, eevee because it looks a fair amount like seed, aegislash because it is a broadsword Pokemon which Pumpkin is known for using (plus it being a competitive menace fits with Pumpkin being the regional champion of Dragon Mango’s Pokemon equivalent), Tyrantrum because it’s a rock dragon Pokemon and thus fits with Pumpkin’s dragon form, gimmighoul because it’s a chest full of gold coins which fits Pumpkin’s current occupation/cover story as a merchant (plus it evolves into a notoriously broken Pokemon), and gabite to fit with the psuedo legendary dragon conceit and because it’s ground typing fits with pumpkin’s dragon form.

    Candy:
Finally, Candy’s team would consist of a Cinderace, Azumarill, Lopunny, Diggersby, Hippowdon, and Musharna. As for the whys, Cinderace, Azumarill, Lopunny, and Diggersby are all there because of Candy’s schtick of summoning bunnies. Also, the varied types represent Candy’s ability to use her bunny summons in creative ways. Plus Lopunny can evolve into a fighting type which fits with how Candy trained as a martial artist before becoming a summoner. As for Hippowdon, that is a stand-in for Flopsy. Finally, Musharna represents Candy’s talent for manifesting Dream spirits due to Musharna’s ability to make dreams physically manifest using its mist. Plus it’s pink, which fits Candy’s color scheme!

    1. Hmmmm. You know what, it’s been a while. I might as well do the other Lolita knights, lemon & lime, and vinegar.

Staring things off, Cupcake’s team would consist of a Tepig, Alolan Muk, Galarian Weezing, Klinklang, hisuian electrode, and Tinkaton. Tepig became its a starter pokemon that’s also a pig, which acts as a bonbon analogue. Alolan Muk became of Cupcake’s talent for alchemy. Galarian weezing became its a Pokemon that eats air pollution, which would make sense for Cupcake to have, if only to avoid getting slapped with fines by the aspartame govt. Klinklang because of her skills as an inventor and because the tech level of most of the dragon mango world is vaguely approaching steak punk. Hisuian electrode because of cupcake’s love of high explosives. And finally, Tinkaton because it’s a cute fairy tinkerer Pokémon that’s surprisingly brutal and resourceful.

Now for eclair, her team would consist of a gallade, Lucario, escavalier, corviknight, Breloom, and samurott. Gallade became it fits her knightly demeanor and profession. Lucario because it’s a blue fighting steel type which fits with eclair’s martial prowess and ability to handle steel. Escavalier and corviknight for similar reasons to Lucario, along with them being knight pokemon. Breloom because it’s a mushroom themed grass fighting type which ties into eclair’s origins in the forest of cosmic enlightenment (insert shroom joke here). And finally, Samurott because it’s based on a samurai (which most stories depict as honorable) and to fit the main characters having starters conceit. I’ll post the others ones later!
